Providing comprehensive cardiac care and peace of mind
SERVICES
Event Monitoring and Implantable Loop Recorders
What to expect:
Heart Bug monitoring will need you to be set up on your mobile device so bring your phone with you just in case. Note some older model mobile devices are not compatible with this technology.
In some instances, it may be appropriate to insert an Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) to further determine the cause of serious arrhythmias or recurrent blackouts. This will involve a “day-only” admission to the Port Macquarie Base Hospital. Your cardiologist will advise you if you will require this device.
Preparation for an insertion of an ILR may include fasting from midnight (taking your usual medications with a small amount of water that morning is ok). Generally, no sedation is needed for this procedure, but it would be a good idea to have someone drop you off and pick you up in case you are not allowed to drive or just don’t feel up to it on the day.
Check in with the bookings clerk at PMBH if you are unsure of your appointment time or preparation requirements on: (02) 5524 2981.
